Namibia Yoga Adventure Retreat
May 28–June 5, 2027
Join me for a nine-day journey through Namibia, where red desert dunes, endless skies, wild coastlines, and unforgettable safari landscapes create the backdrop for an adventure rooted in movement, nature, and connection.
Each day will include opportunities to reconnect through yoga, breathwork, meditation, mobility, Yin, or restorative practices, thoughtfully woven around the rhythm of the journey. Between practices, we’ll explore the Kalahari, Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, coastal Swakopmund, and Etosha National Park through desert adventures, wildlife-filled safari drives, and spacious time to rest, reflect, and simply take it all in.
Namibia is also one of the world’s extraordinary stargazing destinations, known for clear skies, low light pollution, and vast stretches of wilderness. On clear nights, we’ll have opportunities to look up at brilliantly star-filled skies and potentially see the Milky Way stretching overhead.
Our journey will end near Windhoek at N/a’an ku sê, where we’ll gather for a final yoga practice and closing circle and experience the conservation work that makes this place so special. The retreat will also include a guided cheetah experience, offering the chance to learn about these incredible animals and N/a’an ku sê’s wildlife conservation efforts.
We’ll stay in thoughtfully selected lodges along the way and experience Namibia through a balance of guided adventure, wellness, wildlife, and unhurried time in nature.
This retreat is an invitation to step outside the familiar, reconnect with yourself, and experience the kind of awe that comes from moving through one of the wildest and most beautiful landscapes in the world.
ITINERARY OVERVIEW
From desert to ocean to safari, each chapter of the journey reveals a completely different Namibia. We’ll move through the country slowly enough to experience its contrasts — grounding in the Kalahari, standing among the ancient dunes of the Namib, breathing in the Atlantic, entering the wild landscapes of Etosha, and closing our journey through conservation and connection at N/a’an ku sê.
-
Friday, May 28 | Windhoek → Kalahari
Welcome to Namibia! After arriving at Hosea Kutako International Airport, we’ll meet Marcel, our local safari guide and co-host, and begin our journey south into the Kalahari.
Our first road trip is approximately three hours, giving us our first glimpse of Namibia’s sweeping landscapes and endless horizons.
After checking into Kalahari Farmhouse, take time to unpack, relax, and settle into the rhythm of the journey. We’ll gather for our first wellness practice outdoors before coming together for a welcome dinner.
Stay: Kalahari Farmhouse
Included: Airport transfer • Private safari transportation • Wellness practice • Dinner
Meals: Dinner -
Saturday, May 29 | Kalahari → Namib Desert
After breakfast, we journey approximately four hours toward the Namib — considered the world’s oldest desert.
We’ll check into Desert Homestead, our home for the next two nights, surrounded by sweeping desert views and the dramatic Rotterkaum Mountains.
The afternoon is intentionally spacious. Relax by the pool, explore the lodge, journal, or simply take in the stillness before gathering for a yoga or wellness practice surrounded by the desert.
Stay: Desert Homestead
Included: Breakfast • Dinner • Private transportation • Wellness practice -
Sunday, May 30 | Sossusvlei + Deadvlei + Sesriem Canyon
Today is one of the signature experiences of our journey.
We’ll start early and enter Namib-Naukluft National Park around sunrise, stopping at iconic Dune 45 before continuing toward Sossusvlei and Deadvlei.
Those feeling adventurous can climb Big Daddy, one of the tallest dunes in the area at approximately 325 meters, for unforgettable views over Deadvlei.
We’ll wander among Deadvlei’s ancient camel-thorn trees, framed by white clay, brilliant blue sky, and enormous red dunes, before visiting Sesriem Canyon.
After a full morning of exploration, we’ll return to the lodge to cool off, rest by the pool, and reconnect with a sunset wellness practice.
Optional: Desert horseback riding and/or hot-air ballooning may be available at additional cost.
Stay: Desert Homestead
Included: Guided Sossusvlei + Deadvlei excursion • Dune 45 • Sesriem Canyon • Park fees • Breakfast • Dinner -
Monday, May 31 | Namib Desert → Swakopmund
After breakfast, we leave the desert behind and travel toward Namibia’s dramatic Atlantic coastline.
Welcome to Swakopmund, where palm-lined streets, German-influenced architecture, sweeping dunes, and the cool Atlantic create an entirely different atmosphere.
We’ll settle into Swakopmund Guesthouse before having time to explore town and enjoy the coastline.
Dinner is planned at one of Swakopmund’s waterfront restaurants.
Stay: Swakopmund Guesthouse
Included: Breakfast • Private transportation • Wellness practice
Dinner: Guest expense -
Today is your day to choose your own adventure.
Swakopmund and nearby Walvis Bay offer everything from adrenaline-filled desert adventures to wildlife experiences on the Atlantic.
Choose an optional experience such as quad biking, sandboarding, camel riding, fat biking through the desert, kayaking or boating among seals and marine life, exploring Sandwich Harbour by 4x4, or taking to the skies on a scenic flight.
Or choose none of it.
Sleep in. Wander Swakopmund. Sit by the ocean. Find a café. Journal. Rest.
This is your retreat, too.
We’ll weave yoga, meditation, breathwork, mobility, or restorative practice around the rhythm of the day.
Stay: Swakopmund Guesthouse
Included: Breakfast • Wellness practice
Optional excursions: Additional cost
Lunch + Dinner: Guest expense -
Wednesday, June 2 | Swakopmund → Etosha
After our morning wellness practice and breakfast, we’ll begin the approximately five-hour journey north toward Etosha National Park.
After checking into Etosha Safari Lodge, we’ll head into the park for our first guided game drive.
Etosha’s salt pans and waterholes create extraordinary opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, antelope, rhinos, and — with some luck — lions, leopards or cheetahs.
We'll return to the lodge as evening settles over the Namibian bush.
Stay: Etosha Safari Lodge
Included: Breakfast • Dinner • Afternoon Etosha game drive • Park fees • Private safari vehicle + guide -
Thursday, June 3 | Full-Day Etosha Safari
Today belongs to the wild.
We’ll enter Etosha National Park around sunrise and spend much of the day exploring its waterholes, open plains and famous salt pan.
Etosha supports more than 100 mammal species and hundreds of bird species. Every drive is different — and wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed — which is part of what makes safari so extraordinary.
Expect cameras ready, windows open, plenty of patience, and perhaps a few moments that leave everyone completely silent.
We plan to return to the lodge around mid-afternoon, leaving time to relax by the pool before dinner.
This will likely be our one full day without a formal yoga practice — letting safari itself become the practice of presence.
Stay: Etosha Safari Lodge
Included: Full-day guided Etosha safari • Park fees • Breakfast • Dinner -
Friday, June 4 | Etosha → N/a’an ku sê
After breakfast, we begin our approximately five-hour journey back toward Windhoek and our final destination: N/a’an ku sê Lodge & Wildlife Sanctuary.
Rather than ending our adventure with a long drive directly to the airport, this final stop gives us space to land.
We'll settle into our villas, relax by the pool, breathe in the bushveld, and gather for our final yoga practice and closing circle outdoors.
This is our opportunity to reflect on everything we've experienced — desert, ocean, wildlife, movement, stillness and each other — before our final evening together.
Stay: N/a’an ku sê Lodge – Villas
Included: Breakfast • Dinner • Private transportation • Final yoga + closing circle -
Saturday, June 5 | N/a’an ku sê → Windhoek Airport
Our final morning brings one more unforgettable experience.
After breakfast, we’ll take part in a guided cheetah conservation experience at N/a’an ku sê, learning about these remarkable animals, their stories, and the conservation work being done to protect Namibia’s wildlife.
Afterward, there will be time to relax before transfers to Hosea Kutako International Airport, approximately 30–40 minutes away.
We leave Namibia carrying far more than photographs — returning home with stories, connection, perspective and hopefully a renewed sense of wonder.
Included: Breakfast • Cheetah experience • Airport transfer

FAQs
-
Our retreat begins and ends near Windhoek, Namibia, with arrival through Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH).
Airport transfers are included on the official retreat arrival and departure days.
Because this is a multi-stop journey through Namibia, I strongly recommend arriving on the scheduled arrival day and avoiding tight international connections. Detailed flight guidance, arrival timing, and transfer information will be shared with confirmed guests before travel.
International airfare is not included in the retreat price.
If you plan to arrive early or extend your travels in southern Africa, you’re absolutely welcome to do so. Just note that any additional accommodations, transfers, or travel outside the official retreat dates are your responsibility.
For the return journey, guests participating in the N/a’an ku sê cheetah experience on the final morning should plan for a midday or later departure flight, since the experience takes place in the morning.

Namibia is an incredible adventure destination, but international travel does require thoughtful health preparation.
I recommend that every guest schedule an appointment with their doctor or a travel-health clinic at least one month before departure to review personal health history, current medications, vaccines, and malaria prevention options.
According to the CDC, travelers to Namibia should be up to date on routine vaccines, including MMR, tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis, polio, influenza, and other standard vaccinations. The CDC also currently recommends Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and typhoid for many or most travelers to Namibia. A single lifetime polio booster may be recommended for some adults who completed their childhood series.
Malaria
Our itinerary includes Etosha / the Kunene region, which is one of the areas where the CDC currently recommends travelers speak with a medical provider about prescription malaria prevention. Windhoek itself is not considered a malaria-transmission area, and risk is lower or rare in other parts of our route.
Your doctor or travel-health provider can help determine whether medication such as atovaquone-proguanil, doxycycline, mefloquine, or another option is appropriate for you.
Regardless of whether you take malaria medication, mosquito and tick protection is important throughout the trip.
Other diseases and health considerations
The CDC also lists several other travel-health considerations for Namibia, including:
Cholera: localized active transmission has been reported in parts of Namibia, including Kunene. Cholera is rare in travelers, but food and water hygiene is important, and vaccination may be considered for some travelers.
Rabies: rabies occurs in dogs and some wildlife. There is also a current CDC warning regarding rabies in Cape fur seals in Namibia. Guests should never approach or touch wild animals, even if they appear calm.
African tick-bite fever, dengue, leishmaniasis, and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever: these are primarily spread by mosquitoes, ticks, or sand flies, so insect precautions matter.
Schistosomiasis and leptospirosis: these can be associated with contaminated freshwater. Avoid swimming or wading in untreated freshwater such as rivers, ponds, or lakes.
Rift Valley fever, hantavirus, and tuberculosis: these are also listed by the CDC for Namibia but are generally tied to specific types of animal, environmental, or prolonged exposure.
Yellow fever
The CDC does not currently recommend yellow-fever vaccination for Namibia itself, and it is not required when traveling directly from the United States.
However, proof of yellow-fever vaccination may be required if you arrive from, or have a long transit through, a country where yellow fever is a risk. Flight routing matters, so guests should verify requirements once flights are booked.
What I recommend packing
I strongly suggest bringing:
DEET or picaridin insect repellent
lightweight long sleeves and pants
sunscreen
a basic personal first-aid kit
any prescription medications you need
copies of relevant prescriptions
travel insurance that includes medical care and emergency evacuation
Travel-health recommendations can change before departure, so guests are responsible for reviewing current CDC and medical guidance and making decisions with their healthcare provider.

Can I come alone?
Absolutely, many retreat guests join solo. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a supportive and inclusive community. You’ll never feel “on your own” unless you want that space for yourself. What if I’m nervous about doing this alone?
Totally normal, and also a sign you’re doing something brave. You’ll be supported every step of the way, from pre-trip travel coordination to on-the-ground connection once you arrive. We also create intentional moments for group bonding, without forcing anything. Will I actually connect with people if I come alone?
Yes, and in a way that feels natural, not forced. The retreat environment creates opportunities for meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and quiet moments of togetherness.Who typically comes solo?
People at all stages of life and travel. Some are new to retreats, some are experienced solo travelers, and many are simply honoring their own journey. You’ll be in good company. -
Can I come with my partner or a friend?
Of course! This retreat is a beautiful experience to share with someone you care about, whether that’s a romantic partner, close friend, sibling, or travel buddy. Will we be able to stay together?
Yes. Partners and friends booking together will have their own bed. What if one of us does yoga and the other doesn’t?
That’s totally welcome here. All yoga sessions are accessible and adaptable, whether you’re experienced or brand new. Participation is always optional. Will we be together the whole time or is there space for independence?
Both. You’ll enjoy shared meals, group activities, and meaningful experiences together, while still having free time to explore separately, rest, or follow your own rhythms. Is this a good retreat for couples looking to reconnect?
Yes. Many partners join to step away from daily life and reconnect in a new environment. The blend of nature, movement, and mindful space makes it both grounding and deeply connecting. Will we connect with other retreat guests too?
Absolutely. You’ll be part of the larger retreat community, sharing meals, stories, and experiences with other guests throughout the week.Is this a good experience even if we travel differently?
Yes. Whether one of you loves adventure and the other prefers relaxation, this retreat supports both styles with optional outings and built-in flexibility. -
If you’re traveling all the way to southern Africa, Victoria Falls can be an incredible add-on before Namibia.
Victoria Falls sits on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia and is one of the world’s most iconic waterfalls. It can be a beautiful way to add another major bucket-list experience before joining the retreat.
There are currently nonstop flights between Victoria Falls Airport (VFA) and Windhoek (WDH), with a flight time of approximately 1 hour 25 minutes. Schedules vary by date, so I recommend checking your exact travel dates before booking.
If you choose to add Victoria Falls, I recommend building in at least 2–3 nights so you have time to explore without rushing into the retreat.
Possible experiences include:
Viewing Victoria Falls from the Zimbabwe or Zambia side
Sunset cruise on the Zambezi River
Helicopter flight over the falls
Wildlife or game-viewing experiences
Local markets and cultural experiences
Any Victoria Falls travel would be arranged independently and is not included in the Mind Travel Yoga retreat package.
If several guests decide to add Victoria Falls beforehand, I’m happy to help connect everyone so people can coordinate travel plans together.

One of the things I love most about this retreat is that there’s room to make the experience your own.
In addition to the included adventures throughout the itinerary, there will be opportunities to add optional experiences at your own expense, especially during our time in Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, and Walvis Bay.
Optional adventures may include:
Hot air ballooning over the Namib Desert at sunrise
Horseback riding in the desert
Sandwich Harbour 4x4 excursion
Quad biking through the Namib dunes
Sandboarding
Fat biking in the desert
Camel riding
Kayaking or boat excursions with seals and marine wildlife
Scenic flights over the Namib Desert and Atlantic coastline
Additional local experiences available at the time of travel
Hot Air Ballooning over Sossusvlei
For those looking for an unforgettable add-on, there may be an opportunity to experience sunrise hot air ballooning over the Namib Desert.
Floating above the dunes as the morning light moves across the desert is one of the most iconic ways to experience this landscape. The flight offers expansive views, incredible photography opportunities, and a completely different perspective on the scale and stillness of the Namib.
This experience would take place in the early morning and is optional and not included in the retreat price.
You are never required to add an excursion. If your ideal day is resting by the pool, exploring town, journaling, enjoying a café, or simply slowing down, that is completely welcome too.
Optional activities may have separate booking requirements, minimum group sizes, age or health restrictions, and may be weather-dependent.
I’ll share recommended options, estimated pricing, and booking guidance with the group before the retreat so you can decide which experiences feel right for you.
The guided N/a’an ku sê cheetah conservation experience is included in the retreat and is not considered an optional add-on.

Whether you’re looking to slow down or explore, this retreat has everything you need. Sarah’s leadership and energy are so loving, grounded, and dynamic. The yoga is accessible for all levels, and the adventures she curates take you off the beaten path in the most magical, local way. It’s truly so much more than yoga and the people Sarah attracts are spirited, fun, and deeply kind. If you’re considering it, just go. It’s an experience that stays with you.

Claire
It is 100% worth it, the experience was one I will take with me for years and the community aspect was a great reminder of how important it is in one’s life. I learned a lot from many different people and felt connected to myself and others through our shared interest in yoga. Also the planning was great and it was a no stress event which in my experience does not happen often.
